It’s a classic photo of Chicago fishing. The Marx clan — Kelly, 7 (from left); Parker, 8; and Connor, 10 — of Winnetka smile at the big smallmouth bass Connor holds.

Dad Chris Marx emailed that they ‘‘hooked, netted and landed this beautiful smallie all on their own. It was taken on a leech in the early morning, right in front of Buckingham Fountain, then released unharmed.’’

They’re going back when the weather settles.

FOTW, the celebration of big fish and their stories around Chicago fishing, runs Wednesdays on the Sun-Times outdoors page. Submit nominations on Facebook (Dale Bowman), on Twitter (@BowmanOutside) or email (straycasts@sbcglobal.net).
