A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Friday night in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side.

About 10:05 p.m., the man was walking on a sidewalk when he was shot by someone in a gangway in the 7100 block of South Seeley Avenue, Chicago Police said.

He was taken in serious condition to University of Chicago Medical Center with gunshot wounds to his chest, back and leg, police said.

Area South detectives were investigating the shooting.

The 30-year-old man, and the woman, 31, were in a car about 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of North Cicero Avenue when someone in another car fired shots.
Firefighters responded to the fire, which broke out in an apartment on the top floor of a building in the 2400 block of East 78th Street around 2:30 a.m.
