Two men were fatally shot Friday night in the West Woodlawn neighborhood on the South Side.

Troy O. Hampton, 43, and 22-year-old Deandre Marshun Wallace were shot at 9:49 p.m. when someone opened fire outside a store in the 400 block of East 63rd Street, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.b Wallace lived in the South Side Chatham neighborhood.

They were both struck in the chest and later died at the University of Chicago Medical Center, authorities said. Hampton, who lived in south suburban Chicago Heights, was not the intended target of the shooting.

Area Central detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
