Man wounded in Park Manor shooting

A man was shot Friday afternoon in the Park Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

The 24-year-old was walking down the street about 4:05 p.m. in the 7000 block of South Vernon Avenue when someone exited a dark-colored van and fired shots, Chicago Police said.

The man was struck in the upper thigh, and was taken to University of Chicago Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

Police initially said the shooting happened in the back yard of a home in the 7000 block of South King Drive.
