One person has died and 17 others have been sickened by an E. coli contamination of ground beef, the United States Department of Agriculture reported.

The USDA announced Thursday that Colorado-based company Cargill Meat Solutions has issued a nationwide recall of 132,606 pounds of ground beef chuck. The ground beef affected was produced and packaged on July 21.

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said some people may have frozen this ground beef and should either throw it away or return it to the store where it was purchased.

The death and illnesses associated with this contamination were reported between July 5 and July 25. People infected with E. coli may experience diarrhea and vomiting. Most people get better within a week, according to USDA.
