A 31-year-old man was stabbed to death Wednesday night in the West Side Austin neighborhood, police said.

Phillip J. Robinson was found with stab wounds to his left arm and armpit about 8:10 p.m. in the 4900 block of West Erie, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Robinson, who lived in the same neighborhood, was taken to Stroger Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 8:54 p.m., authorities said. An autopsy Thursday found he died of multiple sharp force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
