Six people were hurt Sunday evening in a multi-vehicle crash in the South Loop.

A driver lost control of their brakes at 4:40 p.m. in the 500 block of South State Street and struck a parked vehicle and a bus shelter, injuring two teenagers waiting inside it, Chicago police said.

The struck vehicle was pushed forward into a third car, police said. The third car then collided with two more vehicles.

Six people were transported from the scene with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.

A man and woman from the car that lost control were taken to Stroger Hospital, police said. The two people trying to enter the second car, a 19-year-old man and woman, were taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. A man in the second car was taken to Stroger, and a man in the third car was taken to Northwestern.

The driver of the car that lost control was issued a citation for failing to reduce speed, police said.
