Boy, 16, shot during attempted robbery in Homan Square

A 16-year-old boy was shot Wednesday evening when two people tried to rob him in the Homan Square neighborhood on the West Side.

The boy was walking about 5:15 p.m. in the 3500 block of West Lexington when two males approached him and tried to steal his belongings, according to Chicago police. When he tried to run away, he was shot in the left leg.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
