Police are warning residents of the South Shore neighborhood of recent burglaries to apartments.

In each of the three burglaries, one or more people enter the apartments through a front or rear door and steal property from inside, Chicago police said in a community alert.

The burglaries happened:

  • in the evening of Feb. 2 in the 7000 block of South Cregier Avenue;
  • in the morning of Feb. 1 in the 7000 block of South Cregier Avenue; and
  • in the morning of Feb. 1 in the 1700 block of East 70th Street.

Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.

The 30-year-old man, and the woman, 31, were in a car about 2:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of North Cicero Avenue when someone in another car fired shots.
Firefighters responded to the fire, which broke out in an apartment on the top floor of a building in the 2400 block of East 78th Street around 2:30 a.m.
According to Chicago police, the building in the 3100 block of South Green Street caught fire when someone threw an incendiary device through the window around 2:20 a.m.
In celebration of the holiday, the Juneteenth Jumpoff, an annual cabaret-burlesque show, takes the stage on two nights — Tuesday and Wednesday — at the Baton Show Lounge and the Den Theatre, and allows Black performers to express themselves for “Jubilee Day.”
