A man was critically wounded in a shooting Monday evening in the South Side Gresham neighborhood.

The 34-year-old answered the door of his apartment shortly before 7 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Parnell Avenue, Chicago police said. Someone then opened fire and struck him in the abdomen and leg, police said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, police said. No one is in custody.
