A motorcyclist was killed last week after he crashed into vehicle pulling out of a parking lot in southwest suburban Joliet.

Austin Hoard was riding a motorcycle in the 3300 block of Hennepin Drive about 9 p.m. on May 24 when he struck a vehicle pulling out of a Hooters parking lot, Joliet police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Hoard, 22, wasn’t wearing a helmet during the crash, authorities said. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where died at 10 p.m. the next day.

An autopsy released Tuesday found Hoard died of multiple injuries from the crash, the medical examiner’s office said. He lived five blocks away from where he crashed.

No arrests or citations have been issued, police said. The investigation is ongoing.

Hoard was a reservist with the U.S. Army and a mechanic in Downers Grove, according to an obituary by Fred C. Dames funeral home.
