A man was found shot to death Saturday along the Illinois and Michigan Canal Trail in southwest suburban Rockdale.

Floyd E. Faint was found dead about 9:20 a.m. along the trail near Route 6 and Brandon Road in Rockdale, according to Illinois State Police and the Will County coroner’s office.

The preliminary results of an autopsy Sunday found Faint, who lived in Joliet, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, the coroner’s office said. A final ruling on the cause and manner of his death is pending police, autopsy and toxicological reports.

State police are investigating but did not provide additional details about the case Monday.

To start, the city’s next police superintendent must be committed to reform. A half-hearted effort will never build trust between cops and the community, and that’s bad news when it comes to curbing crime.
