A male fired a “small handgun” towards the club after an altercation ocurred inside, police said.

Shots were fired outside of a nightclub Sunday in Niles after a fight broke out inside of the club in the northern suburb.

About 3:22 a.m., police responded to a call of shots fired at the Music Box Club located at 6873 N. Milwaukee Ave., Niles police said. Witnesses reported that an altercation had broken out inside of the club, police said.

A female suffered a laceration during the altercation inside of the club and was treated and released on scene by the Niles Fire Department, police said.

Investigators learned a male outside discharged a “small handgun” about six times from a parking lot towards the club before running off south on Milwaukee, police said.

There are no reports of anyone hit by gunfire at this time, police said. The suspected shooter was wearing a black jacket and a black hoodie.
