Teen boy shot in Gresham

About 11:05 p.m., the boy was inside an apartment in the 8000 block of South Aberdeen Avenue with a male who was handling a handgun.

A 16-year-old boy was shot Thursday night in Gresham on the South Side.

About 11:05 p.m., the boy was inside an apartment in the 8000 block of South Aberdeen Avenue with a male who was handling a handgun, Chicago police said.

The male discharged the handgun striking the boy in the left shoulder, according to police.

The boy was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in serious condition, police said.

The male is in custody and Area Two detectives are investigating the shooting.
