A 42-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Wednesday in northwest suburban Rosemont.

The accident happened just after 4 p.m. on Higgins Road west of Patton Drive, Rosemont police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

Daniel Diaz-Gonzalez, driver of one the vehicles, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. Autopsy results released Thursday confirmed he died of injuries from the crash.

Diaz-Gonzalez’s death was ruled an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.

The driver of the other vehicle was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Traffic on Higgins Road between Patton Drive and the I-90 ramp was shut down for three hours while authorities investigated, police said.
