Man fatally shot in East Garfield Park

Robert Sims, 21, was found with a gunshot wound to the neck and pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said.

A man was found fatally shot Friday in East Garfield Park, police said.

Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert about 10:43 p.m. in the 600 block of North Spaulding Avenue and found the 21-year-old unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the neck, Chicago police said.

The man, identified as Robert Sims, was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. An autopsy showed Sims died of multiple gunshot wounds, and ruled his death a homicide.

Sims lived in south suburban Country Club Hills, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Four detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
