Man fatally struck by vehicle in Steger

A man died Friday after being hit by a vehicle in south suburban Steger.

Authorities responded about 10:05 p.m. to the 1700 block of East Steger Road and learned a 28-year-old man was struck by a 2020 Jeep Cherokee while crossing the road, the Cook County sheriff’s office said. He was taken to Franciscan St. James Hospital in Olympia Fields where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Everardo Rosales-Urcino. An autopsy conducted Sunday said Rosales-Urcino died of his injuries, and his death was ruled an accident.

Cook County sheriff’s police are investigating.
