A man and woman died in a Burlington Township crash Thursday that may have been caused by snowy conditions.

They were identified as Rachel Vasquez, 27, of Hampshire and Michael Crowley, 54, of DeKalb, according to the Kane County sheriff’s office.

About 6:50 a.m., Vasquez drove a Hyundai Elantra into oncoming traffic and struck a work van near Plank Road and Lawrence Road, the sheriff’s office said.

Vasquez was taken to St. Joseph Hospital and pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said

Crowley, who was riding in the backseat of the van, was taken to the same hospital in serious condition, the sheriff’s office said. Authorities on Friday said that he died.

A 19-year-old man riding in the front passenger seat of the Ford suffered minor injuries, while the 51-year-old man driving the Ford was uninjured.

Snowy roadway conditions may have contributed to the crash, the sheriff’s office said.
