Man dies after crashing into Park Manor lamp post

The 52-year-old was westbound in his Ford Fusion in the 300 block of East 71st Street when he veered off the road and crashed into a lamppost, police said.

A 52-year-old man died after crashing his car into a lamppost Monday evening in Park Manor on the South Side.

His westbound Ford Fusion veered off the road about 9:40 p.m. and crashed into a lamppost in the 300 block of East 71st Street, Chicago police said in a statement.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Jack Eugene Boyd of Park Manor.
