Woman fatally struck by Metra train in Lake Forest

The woman, who is believed to be in her late 60s or early 70s, was struck by the train about 8 p.m. on the tracks near Western and Laurel avenues, Lake Forest police said.

Metra is changing its rules to permanently allow bikes on all trains.

A woman was killed after being hit by a Metra train Thursday in north suburban Lake Forest

The woman, who is believed to be in her late 60s or early 70s, was struck by the train about 8 p.m. on the tracks near Western and Laurel avenues, Lake Forest police said.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene, and has not been publicly identified.

Metra UP-N trains were halted for over two hours as officials conducted an investigation. Inbound and outbound service was resumed with extensive delays about 10:15 p.m., the transit authority said.
