1 man killed, another wounded in Grand Crossing

The men were standing outside in the 7300 block of South Blackstone Avenue, Chicago police said.

Three people were shot, one fatally, Jan. 20, 2022, in Austin.

Two people were shot, one fatally, May 21, 2021 in Grand Crossing.

One man was killed and another wounded early Friday in Grand Crossing on the South Side.

The men were standing outside about 3:20 a.m. in the 7300 block of South Blackstone Avenue when they were attacked, Chicago police said.

One man, 56, suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to police. The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Gabriel Jones.

Another man, 54, was shot in the face and taken to the same hospital in fair condition, police said.

No one is in custody as Area One detectives investigate.
