1 killed, 1 hurt in Englewood shooting

The shooting happened in the 6000 block of South Racine Avenue early Friday, according to Chicago police.

A person was shot June 21, 2022, at North Avenue Beach.

One man was killed and another wounded in a shooting early Friday in Englewood on the South Side.

A 27-year-old man was standing outside with a group of friends about 2:15 a.m. in the 6000 block of South Racine Avenue when he was shot in the back and chest, Chicago police said.

He was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Andre Walker, of south suburban Dolton, by the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Another man, 33, was changing a tire when he was shot in the buttocks and was taken to St. Bernard Hospital in good condition, police said.

There was no one in custody, according to police.
