Federal carjacking charges have been filed against a man who stole a car at gunpoint near Garfield Park last week, then crashed into several cars while driving the stolen Nissan.

Kiar Evans, 22, approached the driver’s side window of the Nissan Altima at Congress Parkway and Independence Boulevard last Thursday, pointed at gun at the driver and ordered him to get out, according to a federal complaint.

Evans drove off in the Nissan but, shortly afterward, crashed into several cars at Harrison Street and Ogden Avenue, the complaint states.

Chicago police officers arrested Evans and discovered a loaded semi-automatic handgun in the Nissan.
