Man shot in Chatham, person in custody

About 9 p.m., he was in the 8300 block of South Vincennes Avenue, when he going into a fight with a 30-year-old man who pulled out a gun.

A 37-year-old man was shot Sunday after getting into a fight in Chatham on the South Side.

About 9 p.m., he was in the 8300 block of South Vincennes Avenue, when he got into a fight with a 30-year-old man who pulled out a gun, Chicago police said.

The two wrestled over the weapon, and it discharged, striking the older man in the hand, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.

The 30-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene and charges are pending, police said.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
