The boy was inside a car about 5:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when someone approached him and fired shots, police said.
The 39-year-old was stabbed four times Tuesday afternoon and hospitalized in critical condition.

The crash left three people in serious condition, seven people in fair condition and three people in good condition, according to the Chicago Fire Department.
“The only motivation here seems to be, I want that rifle. And now three people are dead,” Judge Kelly McCarthy said while ordering Antonio Velasco detained.
The boy was in the 700 block of East 91st Place before noon Wednesday when someone in a white vehicle opened fire. He was struck in his back and chest and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, Chicago police said.
“My heart is just torn into pieces,” the grandmother of Amere P. Deese, 14, said Monday after the teen was one of three victims shot in a Chatham home.
