Tornado, severe thunderstorm warning issued for Cook and DuPage Counties

The tornado warning is expected to remain in effect until 11:45 p.m. and the thunderstorm warning will remain until 12:15 a.m.

The National Weather Service issued a tornado and a severe thunderstorm warning for Cook and DuPage Counties.

The tornado warning will remain in effect until 11:45 p.m., the weather service said. Severe thunderstorms capable of producing tornados and wind damage were seen near Addison Illinois, moving east at 30 mph.

As a precaution residents in the storm’s path are advised to move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, the weather service said.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued and will remain in effect until 12:15 a.m., the weather service said. Winds gusts up to 70 mph and penny sized hail are possible.
