Milwaukee District North train fatally strikes pedestrian in Libertyville

The Metra train hit the person around 8:10 a.m. Tuesday between the Libertyville station and Winchester Road.

Metra is changing its rules to permanently allow bikes on all trains.

A Metra Milwaukee District North train struck and killed a pedestrian Tuesday morning in suburban Libertyville.

A male was hit by an outbound train around 8:25 a.m. on the tracks north of Winchester Road, between Milwaukee and Butterfield, Libertyville police said in a statement.

The person’s age was not immediately released.

Extensive delays were expected.
