An 81-year-old man was critically wounded in the back while standing on the street in Hermosa on the West Side Tuesday night.

The man was shot just before 7 p.m. in the 1700 block of North Tripp Avenue, Chicago police said.

He was transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and was stabilized, Chicago fire officials said.

No one was in custody.
