Man dies after crashing into light pole on Lake Shore Drive on South Side

The man lost control of his car in the 3600 block of South Lake Shore Drive, police said.

A man was killed after he lost control of his car on Lake Shore Drive, jumped a curb and crashed into a light police early Wednesday on the South Side.

The accident happened about 12:15 a.m. as the driver, 29, was headed south in the 3800 block of South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago police said.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He was identified as Thomas Riley, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

A passenger, a 27-year-old man, suffered minor injuries and was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition, police said.
