The end is nigh: McDonald’s does have a ‘secret’ menu

SHARE The end is nigh: McDonald’s does have a ‘secret’ menu

Have you tried the really Happy Meals at Mcdonald’s?

Tasted the Land, Sea and Air burger? How ’bout the McCrepe? The Mc10:35? Something of your own design?

No? Well get thyself to a drive thru – apparently off-menu ordering is a thing at McDonald’s. According to manager from a Scottish – thus the “Mc” – chatting in a Reddit AMA, there is a secret, though not official, menu to accompany the secret sauce. And not to be confused with the “secret” menu that includes all the drug dealing.

You can order from the ‘Secret Menu’. Just like with any of our sandwiches, you can add, remove or change ingredients by special request. These are called ‘grill orders’ (i.e. Big Mac no pickle) The items on the ‘secret menu’ weren’t invented by anyone officially at McDonald’s, it’s just a random persons guide to burgers you could potentially ‘hack’ at McDonald’s. Order one and the workers might not know it by name (i.e. Land, Air and Sea burger or the McGangBang) but if you explain what it is, and are willing to pay for all the ingredients, it’s just another ‘grill order’ that we can make up. DON’T order… the grilled chicken. It’s horrible frozen chicken that we defrost and steam and it’s a bit gelatinous.

A McSpokesperson denied there’s a secret menu, but confirmed that customers can customize orders – what they call the creations is up to them:

We do not have a secret menu at McDonald’s UK. That’s because we love the food that we serve in our restaurants and we don’t want to keep it a secret from our customers. Any requests for extra items or changes to our products are considered at the restaurant manager’s discretion and any additional items may be charged for.

You can find an ongoing list of the off-menu “delights,” including the semi-famous McGangbag, at Hack the Menu.
