A 17-year-old boy was wounded in a shooting Wednesday in Austin on the West Side. 

He was on the sidewalk about 6:55 p.m. in the 5800 block of West Washington Boulevard when someone approached him in a black SUV and fired shots, Chicago police said. 

The teen was struck in the chest and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said. 

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.
