A man was killed in a shooting Monday in south suburban Harvey.

Larry Matthews, 27, was shot in the head near 154th Street and Dixie Highway in Harvey, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. He was pronounced dead at 3:30 a.m.

An autopsy Tuesday found he died of the gunshot wound and his death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

An Illinois State Police spokeswoman said ISP crime scene investigators were called to the scene to assist Harvey police about 4 a.m., but did not provide further details about the shooting.

Harvey police could not immediately be reached for comment.
