Woman shot to death on Aurora porch: police

The 19-year-old was shot in the 400 block of East Benton Street, police said.

A person was fatally shot Dec. 6, 2020, in the 4900 block of West Hubbard Street. — A woman was fatally wounded by gunfire in the 400 block of East Benton Street, July 27, 2019, in Aurora.

A 19-year-old woman was shot and killed Friday in west suburban Aurora, according to police.

Officers were dispatched just after 10:20 p.m. to the the 400 block of East Benton Street for a report of a person shot on the front porch of a home, Aurora police said. There they found Maritza Cazares with gunshot wounds.

Cazares was taken to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said. Cazares lived in Aurora.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be a random incident but do not believe that Cazares was the intended target.

Aurora police are conducting a homicide investigation.
