A 22-year-old woman was robbed by someone Sunday on the Southeast Side.

About 9 p.m., the woman was walking in the 9700 block of South Avenue M when someone approached her from behind, placed a handgun on her leg and demanded she not turn around, Chicago police said.

An original report stated that the robber shot the woman in the leg, but detectives later determined she didn’t sustain a gunshot wound, police said.

She took herself to Franciscan Health Hospital where her condition was stabilized, police said.

Area South detectives are investigating.
