A 30-year-old man was carjacked Tuesday in University Village on the Near West Side.

He was walking to his car about 1:35 a.m. in the 1400 block of West Polk Street when someone approached him and demanded he hand over his car keys, Chicago police said.

The man turned over his keys and the suspect drove off on Polk, police said.

Charges were pending Wednesday against one person in custody, police said.

Earlier this month, police warned Near West Side residents of a pair of carjackings that occurred on the same day a few blocks away.
