Woman, 35, killed in South Chicago shooting

A 35-year-old woman was fatally shot Friday in South Chicago.

Guadalupe Lopez was in a vehicle about 8:30 p.m. in the 8300 block of South Yates Boulevard when someone unleashed gunfire, according to Chicago police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

She was struck in the head and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
