Man killed in East Garfield Park shooting

A 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting Wednesday in East Garfield Park.

The shooting happened about 11:55 a.m. in the 3000 block of West Madison Street, Chicago police said.

Cedrik Herdle was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 10:50 p.m., police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in the neighborhood.

An autopsy found he died of a gunshot wound to the head, the medical examiner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation.
