A convenience store was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday in Bucktown.
About 1:30 a.m., two males walked into a convenience store in the 2000 block of North Damen Avenue, with one of them pointing a gun at clerk behind the counter, Chicago police said. The other male forced the clerk to open the cash register and took cash and cigarettes.
The clerk, a 44-year-old man, was struck in the head with the gun, but was able to see the robbers leave in a white Pontiac, police said. He was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment and is in good condition.
Area North detectives are investigating.
