A 29-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday in Chatham on the South Side.

About 3:05 p.m. he was standing on the corner in the 8300 block of South Ingleside Avenue, when a silver vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired shots at him, striking him in the chest, Chicago police said.

The man, identified as James Primer, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Primer’s death was ruled a homicide, the medical examiner’s office said.

Area Two detectives are investigating.
