Man found stabbed to death in Elk Grove Village

Dionicio Hernandez was stabbed June 9 in the 1400 block of Greenleaf Avenue, the medical examiner’s office said.

A man was found stabbed to death Tuesday in west suburban Elk Grove Village.

Police responded to a person lying in a ditch about 8:06 a.m. in the 1400 block of Greenleaf Avenue, Elk Grove Village police said in a statement. The person was in a grassy area next to railroad tracks, police said.

An autopsy reveled Dionicio Hernandez, 45, died from stab wounds, and ruled his death a homicide, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Hernandez lived in Des Plaines.

A police spokesman on Thursday said he did not have an update to the investigation, but expected to release more information Thursday afternoon.
