A person is in custody after a man was killed in a shooting Thursday in Parkway Gardens on the South Side.

About 3:43 p.m., a 34-year-old man was in a home in the 6500 block of South King Drive when he got into an argument with someone who pulled out a gun and opened fire, Chicago police said.

The man was struck in the chest and taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

He was identified as Darrell Brandon Wells of Minneapolis, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy ruled his death a homicide.

The suspected shooter was taken into custody, police said. Charges are pending.
