A 26-year-old man was shot dead Monday in Lawndale on the West Side.

He was standing on the sidewalk about 12:24 a.m. in the 1500 block of South Homan Avenue when he was gunned down, Chicago police said. He was found unresponsive and pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Marshawn Thomas. He lived in Lawndale.

Witnesses on the scene were uncooperative with investigators, police said. No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
