Man shot dead in Gresham

Officers found him shot in the back and head, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Monday in Gresham on the South Side.

Officers responded to a call of a person shot about 10:42 p.m. and found him laying on the ground in the 8000 block of South Stewart Avenue, Chicago police said. He was shot in the back and head.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Tremoni Pace. He lived in West Chesterfield.

Witnesses on the scene were uncooperative with investigators, police said. No one is in custody as Area Two detectives investigate.
