A 26-year-old Jefferson Park man was found shot to death Sunday morning in Avondale on the Northwest Side.

Officers found him unresponsive in the driver’s seat at 5:05 a.m. in an alley in the 3600 block of West Belmont Avenue, Chicago police said.

Abel Lopez died at the scene from a gunshot to his head, officials said.

An autopsy released Monday ruled his death a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The circumstances of the shooting remain under investigation by Area Five detectives.
