A 15-year-old boy was shot Friday afternoon in West Lawn on the Southwest Side.

The teen was riding a skateboard about 12:45 p.m. in the 6500 block of South Hamlin Avenue when he was shot in the back, Chicago police said.

He was taken to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in serious condition, police said.

Area One detectives are investigating.
