Man shot to death in Austin

Devon Nelson was found unresponsive outside with a gunshot wound to the head in the 100 block of North Mayfield Avenue, police said.

A man was killed in a shooting Saturday in Austin on the West Side.

The 31-year-old was found unresponsive outside with a gunshot wound to the head about 5 a.m. in the 100 block of North Mayfield Avenue, according to Chicago police. He was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Devon Nelson. Autopsy results Sunday found he died from his gunshot wound and ruled his death a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area Four detectives investigate.
