1 killed, 2 hurt in Near West Side shooting

One man died days after the shooting, officials said.

Three people were shot, one fatally, Sunday on the Near West Side.

They were shot about 4:35 a.m. in the 1000 block of West 14th Street, Chicago police said. A 23-year-old woman was hit in the chest and abdomen, a 29-year-old man was struck in the arm and a 33-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the head.

The 33-year-old was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition, police said. He was pronounced dead August 28, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office said.

The medical examiner’s office identified the man as Michael Johnson, of Schererville, Indiana.

The woman took herself to Stroger, and the 29-year-old man was taken to the same hospital, police said. They were both listed in fair condition.

No one is in custody as detectives investigate.
