Man shot to death in Back of the Yards alley

Officers found Chauncey Ali Jr. unresponsive on the ground and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died, officials said.

A man was killed in a shooting Sunday in Back of the Yards on the South Side.

The 29-year-old was leaving a party at 3:38 a.m. in the 900 block of West Garfield Boulevard when someone shot him in the head, according to Chicago police. Officers found him unresponsive on the ground and he was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified the man as Chauncey Ali Jr., of the South Loop. Autopsy results ruled his death a homicide.

No one is in custody as Area One detectives investigate.
