Man fatally shot in Lawndale

The 23-year-old was found unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds in the 1800 block of South Kedzie Avenue.

A man was killed in a shooting Monday in Lawndale on the West Side, police said.

Officers heard gunfire about 1 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Kedzie Avenue and found the 23-year-old unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office identified him as Xavier Anderson of West Garfield Park. An autopsy confirmed he died of multiple gunshot wounds and ruled his death a homicide.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
