Man found fatally shot in Austin

About 4:55 a.m. officer responding to calls of shots fired in the 200 block of North Latrobe Avenue, found the man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds.

A 20-year-old man was found fatally shot Saturday in Austin on the West Side.

About 4:55 a.m. officers responding to calls of shots fired in the 200 block of North Latrobe Avenue, found the man unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds, Chicago police said.

Richard Soward was pronounced dead at the scene, police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. He lived in East Garfield Park.

An autopsy said Soward died of his injuries and ruled his death a homicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.

Area Four detectives are investigating.
